Apr. 25-May 1: Beyoncé Says 'Move Your Body' To Fight Child Obesity

Beyoncé Knowles - Beyonce Knowles: Glastonbury Headliner

This week, Beyoncé worked her magic and did the impossible. She made Michelle Obama's fight against childhood obesity look cooler and more fashionable than ever before. The pop chart diva revamped her 2007 hit "Get Me Bodied," and dubbed the new version "Move Your Body" in support of the first lady's "Let's Move!" healthy eating campaign.
"Move Your Body" exploded after Tuesday, racking up nearly 1.5 million YouTube video plays in less than a week. In the video, the "Halo" singer, dressed in short shorts, knee high socks, and heels, storms into a junior high school cafeteria and leads a group of students through eight missions that involve various dance moves.

Without any special effects, costume changes, or celebrity guests, Beyoncé manages to create one of her most compelling videos to date. In a behind-the-scenes clip, students discuss their struggles to make better eating choices, and Beyoncé explains her desire to help spread Michelle Obama's encouraging message.
"It's all about promoting the benefits of healthy eating and exercise," she said. "But what we want to do is make it fun by doing something that we all love to do. And that's dance."
According to the Washington Post, Michelle Obama's team was not involved with making the video, but thought it was a good idea. A representative said the clip is "a great example of how people can get involved with ‘Let's Move!' and bring this message to more and more young people."
The video will be shown at schools as part of an initiative sponsored by the National Association Of Broadcasters, the American Association Of School Administrators, the National Middle School Association, and the National School Boards Association.

Beyoncé isn't the only celebrity encouraging kids to stay fit. Wayne Brady also joined the cause with Thursday's release of his hip-hop, dance video "You Are What You Eat" from his kids album, "Radio Wayne."

Mother of six Aimee L. Sword Gets up to 30 Years for Sex with Biological Son

Aimee L. Sword Gets up to 30 Years for Sex with Biological Son
Aimee Sword (Oakland Police Dept.)
PONTIAC, Mich. (CBS/AP) Aimee L. Sword, from the Detroit area, has pleaded guilty to having sex with the biological son she gave up for adoption as an infant. The 36-year-old has been sentenced to nine years to 30 years behind bars.

The Waterford Township mother apologized at her sentencing Monday in Oakland County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree criminal conduct.
The Michigan mom admitted she tracked down her son, who is now 16 years old, via Facebook in 2008 after she didn't receive an annual update from the boy's adoptive family in Grand Rapids, reports The New York Daily News.
"When she saw this boy, something just touched off in her - and it wasn't a mother-son relationship, it was a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship," Sword's attorney, Mitchell Ribitwer, said to the newspaper.
Unfortunately for the boy, the teen's adoptive parents, who knew nothing about Sword's sexual motives, allowed the son they had raised to stay with his biological mother.

According to the paper, no one knew about the abuse until the teenage boy reported the incidents to a counselor.
Despite Sword's claims that she and her son only had sex once, authorities believe that they met at  her home as well as a hotel in Grand Rapids, and had sex on different occasions, says The News.
During the period of abuse, Sword was married and lived with her husband and five other children, says the newspaper.

Gadhafi’s son killed but Libyan leader survives NATO missile strike

Kadhafi directly targeted as son killed: ...

TRIPOLI,  – Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi escaped a NATO missile strike in Tripoli that killed one of his sons and three young grandchildren, a government spokesman said early Sunday. Hours later, Gadhafi's forces shelled a besieged rebel port in a sign that the airstrike had not forced a change in regime tactics.
NATO's attack on a Gadhafi family compound in a residential area of Tripoli late Saturday signaled escalating pressure on the Libyan leader who has tried to crush an armed rebellion that erupted in mid-February.
The alliance acknowledged that it had struck a "command and control building," but insisted all its targets are military in nature and linked to Gadhafi's systematic attacks on the population.
Libyan officials denounced the attack as a crime and violation of international law. However, British Prime Minister David Cameron, without confirming fatalities, told the British Broadcasting Corp. that the strike was in line with a U.N. mandate to prevent "a loss of civilian life by targeting Gadhafi's war-making machine.

Youth Corp Members Death Was Their Destiny - Bauchi State Governor

Isa Yuguda
In an interview with journalists  after casting his vote in Thursday's rescheduled elections in Bauchi state, Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda had this to say about the Corps Members that were killed in his state,
"As far as I am concerned, these corps members were destined to experience what they experienced during the course of their service to their fatherland because every new day is a new experience to each and every one of us as human beings. You cannot hold Yuguda or Bauchi State (responsible) for what happened to those corps members, because it was the responsibility of INEC to take care of them."

The man should be made to pay for such statement - He even went along to say that he was attached in 1979 while serving as a youth corper in Ibadan

CBN imposes limits, penalty on cash transactions….N150,000 for individuals; N200,000 for corporate organisations

From June 2012, individuals that make cash withdrawal or deposit above N150,000 would pay a fine of N100 per extra N1,000, while corporate organisations that make cash withdrawal or deposit above N1 million would pay fine of N200 per extra N1,000.

These limits for free cash withdrawal and deposits were part of a new policy aimed at reducing the high usage of cash in the economy announced by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on April 28.

So let me get this straight. If I want to withdraw say N1m, I will pay the bank N8, 500 as penalty? For withdrawing my own money? And no third party cheques above N150,000 across the counter? How will this work? I'm really trying to make sense out of this, won't this move cause inflation or something? And won't it result to people keeping money at home instead?

Read this CBN policy and tell us what you think.
