Big Brother Africa Amplified: Vimbai survives Big Brother eviction

ZIMBABWE'S Big Brother representative Vimbai Mutinhiri avoided the first week eviction from Big Brother Africa on Sunday. Namibia's Jossy Joss, who commanded only his country's backing, was the first of the 26 housemates to be evicted from the TV show staged in South Africa and broadcast throughout Sub-Saharan Africa on the DStv platform.

Vimbai was put back in the house by fans from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Kenya – coming third in the overall vote for the six nominated housemates with 17 percent.

Two other housemates also drew support from only their home countries, and the percentage vote total had to be used to eliminate Jossy who had a 9 percent share compared to Danny (Ethiopia, 11 percent) and Confidence (Ghana, 18 percent).

Angola's Weza topped the country votes with 24 percent of the total vote, claiming her home country, Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa, Malawi and Botswana.

Nigeria's Vina was second with three country votes – the same as Vimbai. She won the vote in Nigeria, Uganda and the Rest of Africa, representing 20 percent of the entire vote.

Earlier, Vimbai had reacted calmly as Botswana's Zeus revealed for the first time that he had put her up for eviction after using his privilege as head of the house last week. Zeus, who had been nominated by fellow housemates, saved his skin by putting the Zimbabwean in the firing line instead.
