AJ Perez (Antonello Joseph Sarte Perez) died due to multiple head injuries caused by a car crash at exactly 12:20 a.m. today.
AJ and his dad Gerardo Perez, driver Christopher Bautista and 3 other companions namely Christina Ferrer, Edwin Patelos and Danny Linunga were on their way back to Manila from Dagupan City's Bangus Festival event when the ABS-CBN van they were riding collided with a Partas bus along McArthur Highway in Barangay San Julian, Tarlac.
Luckily, AJ's 5 other companions were all alive and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Shortly before the accident, AJ was still able to post a Twitter message thanking his fans who attended his show in Dagupan.
The 18 year-old Kapamilya actor was declared dead on arrival at Rayos-Valentin Hospital in Paniqui, Tarlac.
Columnist-host Ogie Diaz was able to talk with AJ's dad after the accident. On his Twitter, Ogie wrote Mr. Gerardo's reaction : "Sana, panaginip lang to, Ogie. Si Aj ang buhay namin ng mami nya, bakit sya pa? Sana, ako na lang."
AJ's mom was also in shock when Ogie spoke to her. She supposedly told the talent manager, "Tinanong ko si dadi, bat ang tagal nilang umuwi? Pauwi na raw sila from Dagupan, pero nag-aalala pa rn ako, d ko alam kumbakit balisa ako."
